Abkhazian Supreme Court to decide on presidential election on October 19

The sitting of the Supreme Court set for today did not take place because a representative of the Central Election Commission (CEC), which is a defendant, was absent. Bar chairman Ivan Zarania announced that tomorrow, October 19, "a CEC representative will certainly appear in court and the sitting will take place."

"Our demands are unchangeable and quite simple: to create conditions so that a legal decision concerning the election results, based on a verdict of the Supreme Court, can be made. Our main demand is to remove republican prosecutor general Rauf Korua on the grounds of the fact that he did not respond to the situation, to numerous infringements of the law and allowed himself to violate the law and mislead the public," reads the statement by Raul Khadzhimba's staff published during a meeting of his supporters in Sukhum late at night on October 15.

Abkhazian President Vladislav Ardzinba has also submitted a proposal to the parliament to remove Rauf Korua from office.
