Residents of Shamil District refuse rally in connection with murder of shepherds

On September 7, in Makhachkala, fellow villagers and relatives of killed Gasanguseinov brothers agreed to demand the transfer of the case on the shepherds' murder to the Investigating Department for the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD). Moreover, they have founded a working group to assist the advocate in the above. The villagers have decided to refuse protests.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 23, during a special operation in the Shamil District, brothers Nabi and Gasangusein Gasanguseinov from the village of Goor-Khindakh were killed. According to law enforcers, the killed brothers were shooting at them and were involved in the armed underground. The fellow villagers of the killed brothers have stated that they were ordinary shepherds. The parents of the killed brothers have appealed to human rights defenders for help.

The gathering was attended by about 300 people. They have declared that their main goal is to prevent the defamation of the Gasanguseinov brothers' names by allegation that they were militants.

According to Magomed Magomedov, Deputy Mufti of Dagestan, the people should seek justice by legal means: they should establish a working group, hire advocate and appeal to all the public institutions.
