Volgograd: residents of destroyed house receive keys to new apartments

In Volgograd, tenants of the dismantled high-rise building, who have already examined the new house and signed the act of acceptance, may enter their new apartments. This was announced by Larisa Borodaeva, the head of the initiative group of the tenants.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the explosion in the high-rise building located in Cosmonauts Street in Volgograd took place on December 20, 2015. On February 18, workers completely dismantled the high-rise building.

On December 29, 2015, the tenants of the destroyed high-rise building sent a letter to the President of Russia and the Volgograd Governor. In their letter, they voiced a proposal not to provide them with temporary accommodation and to direct savings to construction of a residential building at the place of their house.

Earlier, on April 21, the court pronounced the decision to oblige the administration of Volgograd to pay 330,000 roubles in favour of the Popov family. Besides, on April 11, the court partially granted the claim filed by Daniel Sedov, a former resident of the high-rise building; however, the court's decision was challenged by the regional authorities. The government was obliged to compensate the damage to property of Elena Stegacheva, a resident of the destroyed house.
