Dagestani female human rights defender disappears in Rostov Region

Svetlana Isaeva, a member of the Public Oversight Commission (POC) stopped answering calls to her mobile phone on her way to Rostov-on-Don.

On May 31, Svetlana Isaeva was detained in the Stavropol Territory. According to the human rights defender, her detention was caused by the fact that in 2013, she had been included in the wanted list by the Centre to Combat Extremism of the Dagestani Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA).

On October 4, Svetlana Isaeva informed the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that she took a bus from Makhachkala to Rostov.

"At the border between Dagestan and the Stavropol Territory, I was detained at the federal checkpoint 'Zaterechny'. However, after check of the documents, I was released and warned about possible detention at a checkpoint at the entrance of Rostov," said Svetlana Isaeva on October 4.
