Petition for return of direct election of leader of Adygea collects 170 signatures per day
The abolition of direct elections has limited the electoral rights of citizens and is aimed at the preservation of a family-clan power system in Adygea. This opinion was voiced by authors of the petition with the demand to return the nationwide election of the leader of the republic.
Today, the SMS-service of the "Caucasian Knot" has got a message reporting on collection of signatures under the online-petition for the return of the direct election of the leader of Adygea.
On October 14, the petition, entitled "Residents of the Republic of Adygea demand direct election of the leader of the republic", was posted on the website "Change.org" by Arambiy Khapay, the former chairman of the movement "Adyge Khase-Circassian Parliament" in Adygea, who left the post in March 2012 because of his disagreement with the Tkhakushinov's policy.
"The practice when public posts and senior positions in regional institutions of political parties are held by people who are in direct blood relation with the leader of the Republic of Adygea contradicts the ethical rules and regulations in the system of public authorities. The family-clan system of power in the Republic of Adygea is aimed at alienating the public from control over the state. It weakens state institutions, contributes to growth of corruption and conflict of interests, negatively affecting the public interests," states the petition, addressed to Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.
As of 2:55 p.m., the petition collects 170 signatures.
