Buynaksk hunger-strikers stop their action
Two hunger-strikers, Gerey Sadykov and Magomedzakir Nurulvaraev, have been hospitalized; the action is suspended, said Kamil Shakhbulatov.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 28, supporters and activists of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF) went on a hunger strike in Buynaksk, demanding the revision of the election outcomes. By the evening of October 16 the number of hunger-strikers dropped to eight. On October 17, their health condition worsened.
"Our health doesn't allow us to continue the hunger strike. Today, two of us – Gerey Sadykov and Magomedzakir Nurulvaraev – were taken to hospital with suspected pneumonia. Other protesters also feel a strong flue," said Shakhbulatov, a hunger-striker, adding that they intend to continue their action.
Earlier, Zakariya Amirov, the Mayor of Buynaksk, treated the hunger-strike as "harmful and destabilizing". According to his version, the protesters aim to divert people's attention from more pressing problems.
