One person killed in shootout in Dagestan

The village of Tagirkent-Kazmalyar, Magaramkent District, has been put under the counterterrorist operation (CTO) legal regime, the Russia's National Antiterrorism Committee (NAC) has reported today. According to a Dagestani law enforcement source, in the course of the CTO, power agents entered a shootout with some persons, who had opened fire on them from a blocked house.

According to the source, employees of federal agencies "killed the militant, who had opened fire on them in Tagirkent-Kazmalyar".

"He was pre-identified as Valekh Rafikhanov. According to the NAC's operative headquarters, in March this year he joined the bandit grouping operating in Southern Dagestan. As a member thereof, he took part in attempts on law enforcers, murders of civilians and extortion of large sums of money from entrepreneurs," the "Chernovik" weekly quotes the NAC's message.
