Nalchik starts fundraising for repatriates through selling books about Adyg culture

In Kabardino-Balkaria, activists of the NGO "Ochag" (Hearth) have launched a charity event to sell the catalogue "Items of Adyg culture in the collection of the Russian Museum of Ethnography." The raised funds are to be directed for creation of the Centre for adaptation of repatriates, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

At 2:25 p.m. Moscow time of October 27, the SMS-service of the "Caucasian Knot" got a message reporting that in the capital of Kabardino-Balkaria, activists began selling books to help their compatriots from Syria. "In Nalchik, the 'Adyge Une' shop starts selling books to help compatriots from Syria," wrote the author of the SMS-message.

On October 28, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed at the public organization "Ochag" that it is planned to sell 400 copies of the catalogue within the framework of the action "When you buy a book, you help your compatriots".

Olga Begret, one of the founders of the NGO "Ochag", has reported that this year, the problem of creation in Kabardino-Balkaria of the Centre for adaptation of repatriates was raised once again in connection with the appeals of compatriots from Syria to help them to return to their historical homeland.

According to Olga Begret, it is necessary to create such a centre, in particular, to provide repatriates with temporary shelter and organize for them medical and psychological care, nutrition, assistance in obtaining the necessary documents and in study of Russian and native languages, and assistance in finding jobs.
