Experts treat demands of Makhachkala Mayor's resignation as spontaneous (+video)
On October 31, residents, desperate and indignant with city problems, came out to a rally in Makhachkala; nobody directed their actions, said the experts, interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot".
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 31, in Makhachkala, activists held a rally to express their dissatisfaction with the situation in the city. Apart from other things, the protestors also mentioned mass poisoning of Makhachkala residents with drinking water.
On October 27, residents of Makhachkala complained about supply of dirty water after the works at the Miatlinskaya HPP. Since that day, reports began to arrive about hospitalization of locals with symptoms of acute intestinal infection. As of November 2, 618 people received medical treatment in hospital regime and continue treatment at home.
"Judging by the fact that people came out to the square, their appeal showed that people were just brought to despair, since they are ready like this, without fear for themselves and potential problems with the authorities, to hold the protest," Magomed Magomedov, a journalist of the "Chernovik" newspaper, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
The journalist has ruled out the idea that the rally against the republic's and city authorities could be organized by supporters of Said Amirov, a former Mayor of Makhachkala.
Ramazan Radjabov, the head of the political section of the "Novoye Delo" newspaper, does not also believe that the rally could be organized by Said Amirov's supporters.
"It is unlikely that it was done by Amirov's people. At least, I've failed to see someone's professional hand in the event. The idea that Amirov was behind all this appeared after someone at the rally said that he should be returned," Mr Radjabov told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
He also pointed out that the rally was preceded by a WhatsApp mailing with a call to come to the square. "The text of the call was made extremely unprofessionally, which again suggests that there were no coordinated and serious actions behind it. People had heard from somewhere that there would be a rally and decided to come, since there are pretty plenty reasons for that in the city," said Ramazan Radjabov.
