Bagapsh rates explosion near his election headquarters as intimidation
No one suffered in the explosion that occurred not far from Sergey Bagapsh's headquarters last night, a source in the State Security Service told the Caucasian Knot correspondent. The capacity of the self-made explosive device was not high, equivalent to 100 grams of TNT. Windowpanes in a dwelling house situated in immediate proximity to the headquarters, which is in the office of the Amtsakhara social and political movement on Gogol Street in Sukhum, were broken as a result of the explosion. The explosive device was mounted in a tree.
Presidential candidate Sergey Bagapsh rates the happening as an incident aimed at intimidating his supporters. Mr Bagapsh thinks it may complicate the internal political situation in the republic.
