Senator Kerry uses uncomplimentary expressions towards Azerbaijan
In the course of the ongoing TV debates between presidential candidates in the Unites States, Senator John Kerry used uncomplimentary expressions towards allies of the US in the anti-Iraq coalition, including Azerbaijan. He said in particular that Azerbaijan "should be thrown under a bus."
Deputy of the Azerbaijan parliament Mais Safarli has delivered a speech in the parliament replying to Senator Kerry. "Azerbaijan is an ally of the United States in the region. Almost all interests of the US, especially economic ones, are maintained in the country. We closely cooperate with America in the struggle against international terrorism. We consider ourselves insulted, that is why I decided to reply to Mr Kerry in a blunt manner," the deputy said.
Political scientist Zardusht Alizade pointed out that "the Azerbaijan authorities are confused: Kerry takes the lead over his rival after two TV debates." "Kerry's victory will be a serious trial for the present Azerbaijan authorities since he, unlike Bush, will not connive at the violation of democracy and human rights in Azerbaijan," he said.
