Chechen resident accused of publishing singer Timur Mutsuraev's songs

On his page on the social network "VKontakte", Shamil Erzanukaev has posted one of the songs written by Timur Mutsuraev included in the list of extremist materials. The resident of Chechnya faces a fine or administrative arrest, reports the Chechen law enforcement bodies.

According to the Prosecutor's Office of Chechnya, Shamil Erzanukaev published on the Internet the Timur Mutsuraev's song "Purple Sunset…", which in April 2014 was recognized as extremist material by the Kemerovo Regional Court and banned for distribution in the territory of Russia.

The Kemerovo Regional Court recognized as extremist more than 20 songs written by Timur Mutsuraev. The songs are included in the Federal List of Extremist Materials, and their dissemination entails administrative punishment in the form of a fine or arrest of up to 15 days.

"I have to say that the vast majority of young people who listen to or publish on their pages in social networks songs written by Timur Mutsuraev are not even aware of the fact that those songs are recognized as extremist and banned in Russia. My own nephew has recently bought a CD with Timur Mutsuraev's songs and listened to the CD in his car. When I warned him that it was forbidden and he might be fined or arrested for 15 days, he was just shocked. Young people do not see anything wrong in texts of the Timur Mutsuraev's songs, and many people do not even delve into their essence," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by an official of the Chechen Prosecutor's Office.
