Participants of "tractor march" claim pressure from raiders

The defence has appealed against institution of criminal proceedings against Nikolai Borodin, a participant of the "tractor march". Farmers believe that raiders seek criminal prosecution of protestors.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) instituted a criminal case of fraud with lease of land plots against Nikolai Borodin, a participant of the Kuban farmers' protests, and Elena Petrova, a wife of another participant of the "tractor march".

In September 2016, Nikolai Borodin was dismissed from his post of the Kazan Cossack Ataman "for poor performance" and deprived of his parliamentary status. Nikolai Borodin himself has associated those actions as pressure after the "tractor march".

The appeal against the resolution of the ICRF's regional Investigating Department to institute a criminal case against Nikolai Borodin was sent to the Caucasus District Court and accepted for consideration. This was reported by blogger and lawyer Sergey Zemtsov.

He believes that the ICRF's regional Investigating Department had no right to institute a case against Nikolai Borodin, since he was not a member of the District Council since September 2016.

According to Sergey Zemtsov, after his participation in the "tractor march", the farmer left the "Edinaya Rossiya" (United Russia) Party and lost his status of the deputy.
