Moscow forum states deep crisis in Dagestan

Dagestan is in a deep crisis, which is confirmed by non-fulfilment of laws, and corruption and lawlessness of law enforcers, said the participants of the sitting of the Dagestani Civil Forum "Let’s Return Russian Constitution to Dagestan!" held in Moscow.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that the sitting of the forum began with a call of journalist Maxim Shevchenko to remove Ramazan Abdulatipov from the post of the head of Dagestan. Eduard Urazaev, the former Dagestani Minister of Press, has supported him.

Dagestani journalist Milrad Fatullaev expressed his concern about the fact that the republic publishes less and less books in national languages.

Gadjimurad Omarov, an MP of the Russian State Duma, has noted that the solution of political, socio-economic, cultural and other problems of Dagestan is impossible without a change of the republic’s leadership. In his opinion, Dagestan should again elect its head directly.

Ramazan Abdulatipov was appointed the acting the head of Dagestan on January 28, 2013, and on September 8, 2013, he elected the head of Dagestan for five years by the republic’s parliament.
