Resolution demanding Abdulatipov’s resignation adopted in Moscow

The forum "Let’s Return Russian Constitution to Dagestan!" in Moscow ended with adoption of the final resolution, in which Russian authorities are invited to dismiss Ramazan Abdulatipov and hold direct election of the head of Dagestan.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that the sitting of the forum began with a call of journalist Maxim Shevchenko to remove Abdulatipov from office. The sitting was attended by the Dagestan public, opposition-minded to the head of the republic.

"We, the participants of the forum... believe it our duty to declare that the situation in Dagestan is close to catastrophic. The degradation of the governance systems has reached the bottom. People are growing poorer, the authorities are getting richer. The level of trust in the authorities is close to zero," Mr Shevchenko has quoted the text of the resolution.

The resolution contains the following demands:

  1. Remove Abdulatipov from the post of the head of the republic.

  2. Hold meeting of public representatives of Dagestan with President of Russia.

  3. Hold direct election of new republic’s leadership.

  4. Convene an extraordinary congress of Dagestani peoples to discuss problems and search for ways to solve them.
