Chechen villagers seek Kadyrov’s protection against power agents’ lawlessness
An appeal to the head of Chechnya after the riots in the village of Davydenko, where power agents have beat up and detained the villagers who tried to protect their houses from demolition, was released via the WhatsApp messenger in the hope to bring information to Kadyrov.
On March 26, in the village of Davydenko, Achkhoi-Martan District of Chechnya, a conflict broke out of local residents with power agents. According to villagers, employees of the administration claimed 75,000 roubles from tenants of several houses; and when they refused to pay, they brought in construction machines accompanied by policemen. There was a skirmish, during which power agents beat up tenants and detained three of them.
The authors of the appeal to Ramzan Kadyrov treat the village incident as a "mass disorder." According to their message, in the course of the conflict power agents opened fire, injuring one person.
"People in police uniform treated villagers rudely; they beat up not only men but also women; threatened to kill those who came out against them; used coarse language; took away the phones from those, who tried to film the incident; and detained several persons and still keep them. One woman was taken to hospital; they trampled on her; and she received a bullet wound only because she tried to protect people," the authors of the appeal write.
They expressed confidence that Kadyrov was completely unaware of what had happened, and urged him "to help to stop the lawlessness."
