"Tractor march" of Kuban farmers started after anti-corruption rallies and truck drivers' action
The repeated "tractor march" organized by farmers of the Krasnodar Territory, launched today, is taking place against the background of the growing protest activity in Southern Russia and, in particular, in Kuban. The protest action of the Kuban farmers is already accompanied by detentions.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported on August 21, 2016, the protesting farmers held a rally and began their so-called “tractor march” to Moscow, but law enforcers interfered, stopped the action and punished the participants with administrative arrests and fines. After their disrupted "tractor march" and a failed attempt to meet President Vladimir Putin, farmers have repeatedly stated the authorities' attempts to suppress the protest movement in the Krasnodar Territory.
Today, four farmers from the Krasnodar Territory involved in the "tractor march" have been stopped at the checkpoint of the road-and-patrol service (known as DPS) in the town of Tikhoretsk. Out of four farmers, two have been brought by policemen to the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF). This was reported by Valery Ivanchenko, one of the detainees.
According to Valery Ivanchenko, law enforcers checked the contents of the vehicles of the participants of the "tractor march" and flags. Besides, they asked the protestors who financed them.
Valery Ivanchenko has also reported that farmer Nikolai Maslov was also detained at the DPS checkpoint. He is likely to be brought to the Cossack village of Kazanskaya, the "OVD-Info" reports.
It should be noted that the new "tractor march" of the Kuban farmers is taking place against the background of the growth of protest activity in Southern Russia and, in particular, in the Krasnodar Territory.
