Ashuba prejudices Saakashvili's peace initiatives
Representatives of the UK Government, including the UK's Special Representative for the South Caucasus Sir Brian Fall, have arrived in Abkhazia for a working visit. Speaker of the Abkhazian parliament Nugzar Ashuba received the British diplomats.
The sides discussed the issue of resuming negotiations with Georgia, "Georgian president Mikhail Saakashvili thinks in a new way. He has a fresh view on the resolution of the conflict," Sir Brian Fall emphasized. "It wasn't seen from Saakashvili's speech in Strasbourg that Georgia has new thinking now," the Abkhazian speaker said in his turn.
The problem of refugees in the Gali district of Abkhazia was also brought up during the meeting. Nugzar Ashuba holds that one should discern the difference between political and humanitarian aspects of the problem.
