NKR plants 120 trees in memory of victims of April war

On April 8, 120 seedlings of silver poplar were planted in the village of Mekhakavan in the south of Hadrut District, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports. The event was attended by MPs of the National Assembly, officials of the government, members of NGOs, soldiers and officers, and students.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the situation in the Karabakh conflict zone deteriorated at night of April 2, 2016. On April 5, three days later, the parties to the conflict concluded a truce.

The event was organized by the Ministry of Culture and Youth Affairs of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR).

"The action shows that we bow to our heroes and confirm our desire for peace and independence," announced Narine Agabalyan, Minister of Culture and Youth Affairs.

"It is important that today, hundreds of young people have come here. Every Armenian, especially living in Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh), is obliged to plant a tree that is a symbol of the creation of a new life," emphasized Ashot Gulyan, Speaker of the NKR’s Parliament.
