Dagestani truckers complain about no authorities’ reaction

The truckers, who are holding protest in Dagestan, understand that the republic’s leadership cannot abolish the “Platon” system, but they demand to meet local authorities in order to discuss other truckers’ problems.

The main Dagestani protesters’ camp is located near the village of Manas. As of the evening on April 17, there were more than 200 trucks there, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

Aigum Abdullaev, a trucker, said that the protesters expect officials to meet them and listen to truckers’ other problems, namely "systematic extortions, rightless status in foreign trips and inoperative consular services."
