Navalny's supporters complain to court about inaction of Astrakhan Mayoralty

Today, Ilya Dyakonov, coordinator of Alexei Navalny's office in Astrakhan, has filed a lawsuit to the city court demanding to find illegitimate Astrakhan Mayoralty's inaction at considering notification about the action.

On March 26, many cities of Russia, including the Southern and North-Caucasian Federal Districts (SFD and NCFD), held anti-corruption actions of the Navalny's supporters. The actions were accompanied by mass detentions in Volgograd, Krasnodar, Sochi, Rostov-on-Don and Makhachkala.

On May 3, Navalny's supporters in Astrakhan sent a notification to the Mayoralty about holding a picket in support of the politician. They scheduled the action for May 7, Mr Dyakonov told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

"Within three days the Mayoralty, as the body of local self-government, failed within its duties to consider the notification about the picket. That is, they admitted an inaction, which should be recognized as illegal," Ilya Dyakonov has stated.

In his lawsuit, he demanded "to recognize as illegal the Mayoralty's inaction in fulfilling its duties stipulated by the Federal Law 'On Meetings, Rallies, Demonstrations, Marches and Pickets', when considering the notification about the action on May 7, 2017."
