German citizen detained in Abkhazia for border crossing

In the Gali District of Abkhazia, a German citizen was detained for illegal crossing the border with Georgia. He explained that he was engaged in hiking, and was not aware that he had crossed the border, informs the Abkhazian branch of the Frontier Department of the Russian FSB.

According to the above branch, the German citizen was detained on May 22 in the vicinity of the village of Pichora in the Gal District of Abkhazia.

The "Sputnik-Georgia" explains that the detainee is practicing hiking and did not know that he had crossed the Abkhazian-Georgian border.

The German was handed over to law enforcement bodies of Abkhazia, the "Interfax" reports.

The "Caucasian Knot" has also informed that this April, Enver Beriya, a citizen of Georgia, was detained near the border with Abkhazia.
