NATO PA to adopt resolution in Georgia's support
The NATO Parliamentary Assembly (PA) will be held on May 26-29. Georgian President Giorgi Margvelashvili, Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili, and Parliament Speaker Irakli Kobakhidze are expected to deliver speeches at the NATO PA plenary session.
"This is a historic day for our country. I want to say that in the history of NATO, the Parliamentary Assembly was held only in four non-member countries, and after 2002, Georgia is the first country hosting the NATO PA. During the next four days, Tbilisi, along with Brussels, will be the political centre of NATO," stated Irakli Sesiashvili, the Chairman of the Defence and Security Committee of the Georgian Parliament and the head of the permanent Georgian delegation to the NATO PA, at a briefing held on May 25.
Irakly Sesiashvili has also emphasized that no resolutions and declarations are usually adopted at spring sessions of the NATO PA. However, a resolution in support of Georgia will be adopted at this session.
