Court releases residents of Chechnya accused of attacking MfE rescuers

The court has returned to the prosecutor's office a criminal case against three natives of Chechnya accused of beating staff members of the Ministry for Emergencies (MfE) in the area of the Vnukovo village in Moscow. The criminal case has been returned for elimination of shortcomings. The pre-trial restriction measure against the defendants has been abolished, since, according to the court, there are no grounds for it.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Khamid Razhapov and brothers Said-Magomed and Khusein Tsetiev were detained in September 2014. The appeal on the case is under consideration at the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR). Since September 18, 2015, the court repeatedly extended the term of the defendants' arrests.

In December 2016, members of the Presidential Human Rights Council stated that the case against Khamid Razhapov and the Tsetiev brothers was an example of a mutual guarantee in the court and investigation bodies, which could not be overcome without an independent monitoring institution.

Advocate Nikolai Dyakov has reminded the court that in March 2017, Chechen natives Sheikh Dutaev, Alikhan Aziev, and Magomed Artsikhaev voluntarily come to investigating department and confessed to their involvement in the conflict.
