Gukovo miners stop hunger strike
In the Rostov Region, miners of the "Kingcoal" company and employees of the "Vostochnaya" mine have decided to stop their hunger strike due to authorities’ indifference and health deterioration. This was reported by Tatiana Avachyova, a member of the initiative group.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the total amount of paid-out money, according to the authorities, made 308.2 million roubles. On July 4, miners stated they had failed to receive all the due payments and went on a hunger strike.
According to Ms Avachyova, now, miners will use other methods to be heard.
According to the initiative group’s estimates, the overall debt to miners is 374 million roubles. As of July 25, there were 59 hunger-strikers.
Also today, the Ostankino District Court of Moscow has accepted the claim of Rostov miners against Valery Fyodorov, the head of the All-Russian Public Opinion Research Centre (known as VTsIOM), as reported by Nikolai Mironov, the head of the Centre for Economic and Political Reforms, in his Facebook.
The lawsuit was caused by Mr Fyodorov's statement on the air of the “Dozhd” TV Channel on June 28 about 15% of Russians who are "always ready to protest with and without reason" and "are negatively tuned to the course of President Vladimir Putin, his regime and, in part, his person..."
