Rescuers injured at explosion place in Abkhazia
Four staff members of the Ministry for Emergencies (MfE) have been injured while liquidating consequences of an explosion at an ammunition depot in Abkhazia.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that an explosion at an ammunition depot in the Gudauta District of Abkhazia occurred in the afternoon of August 2. The Abkhazian Ministry for Public Health reported 60 people injured as a result of the incident. Today, not far from the ammunition depot, the bodies of two Russian tourists were found who died from shrapnel wounds.
Four MfE rescuers have been injured while liquidating the consequences of the explosion at the ammunition depot, the "Sputnik-Abkhazia" reports with reference to Mizan Lomiya, the press secretary for the Abkhazian MfE.
According to Mizan Lomiya, the victims were hospitalized, and their lives are not in danger, the RIA "Novosti" reports.
Abkhazian President Raul Khadjimba has instructed his subordinates to create a special commission to determine the scale and volume of the damage inflicted and the amount of compensation to be paid to all the victims, including citizens of the Russian Federation.
