Residents of Abkhazian village return to their houses after explosions

According to the Abkhazian Ministry of Defence (MoD), there are no threats of new explosions in the area of an ammunition depot in the village of Primorskoe. In Sukhumi, physicians prepare to discharge six injured Russian citizens from the hospital.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in the afternoon on August 2, an explosion occurred at the ammunition depot in the village of Primorskoe in the Gudauta District of Abkhazia. Shells did not stop detonating until evening. According to eyewitnesses, the explosions were preceded by a fire.

According to the information of the Abkhazian Ministry for Public Health as at August 3, 64 people were injured during the explosion.

A perimeter of the explosion zone is guarded by a unit of the Abkhazian MoD, and residents of the village of Primorskoe returned to their houses, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by an official from the press service for the Abkhazian MoD.

"The whole area is being combed to detect some fragments and unexploded shells. Combat engineers and staff members of engineering services are working in the epicentre of events, immediately at the place of the ammunition depot. After they secure the place, a special commission will begin its work to carry out a detailed investigation. And only then it will be possible to put forward various versions," said the official from the Abkhazian MoD's press service.
