Kadyrov pours criticism on MoC for decision to screen "Matilda"
The Russian Ministry of Culture (MoC) has financed a "spiritless" film that "will not find its spectator" either in Chechnya, or in other regions, Ramzan Kadyrov said. Vladimir Aristarkhov, First Deputy Minister of Culture regrets that "respected people" have criticized “Matilda” before even seeing it.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the head of Chechnya had earlier asked the Russian MoC to exclude Chechnya from the screening certificate of the "Matilda" by the filmmaker Alexei Uchitel. Kadyrov's request was supported by First Deputy Prime Minister of Dagestan. The MoC offered the authorities of Chechnya and Dagestan to solve the issue of banning the movie, and today has issued a screening certificate for the "Matilda" throughout Russia.
According to Ramzan Kadyrov, "there are topics that cannot be touched in the public interest." At the same time, he stated that he would not prohibit the screening of "Matilda" in Chechnya.
The above Mr Aristarkhov has stressed that the film had nothing to do with the events after which Nicholas II was recognized as a holy martyr.
