Ossetian-Ingush conflict handled

A plan to settle the Ossetian-Ingush conflict proposed by Dmitry Kozak, presidential envoy to the South federal district, has been launched in the North Caucasus, Fyodor Shcherbakov, press secretary for the envoy, told Interfax Yug today. "Two families were resettled to Dachnoye, Prigorodnyi district, North Ossetia, in late April. Another refugee family is coming back to their former residence in Chermen today," Mr Shcherbakov said.

He added it was planned to resettle three more IDP families to Dachnoye on 5 May. Temporary huts with everything necessary are provided for those families whose houses are currently unfit for habitation. "No obstacles have been noticed in the resettlement process," the press secretary observed.

He emphasised the resettlement would continue until all people came back to their homes.

According to Shcherbakov, it is planned to resettle a total of about 3,000 people to North Ossetia, RIA Novosti says.

In the opinion of President Murat Ziazikov of Ingushetia, there is hope the work on returning internally displaced persons to places of their permanent residence will be invigorated.

Law enforcement agencies and executive bodies of both republics are working closely, according to the Ingush leader.

There were other reports recently though that said there were some obstacles in the process, which is contrary to what Mr Shcherbakov says about that.
