Dagestani and Ingush authorities ignore Moscow's position on film "Matilda"

The leaders of Dagestan and Ingushetia, who requested to exclude their republics from a rental certificate for screening of the film "Matilda", followed the example of Ramzan Kadyrov, without being aware of the federal authorities' position on the fate of the film. This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" by Russian political analysts.

Some regional leaders could treat a scandal around the film as a state order, noted political analyst Andrei Serenko.

According to him, the willingness of the authorities for Dagestan and Ingushetia to defend the Orthodox values could be an attempt "to show to the public opinion the inviolable union of Islam and Orthodoxy."

Meanwhile, the political analyst believes that the demonstration of interfaith peace in the multinational country is really important from the point of view for state policy.

Andrei Serenko has also called the statements voiced by the authorities of the North-Caucasian republics "the final stage of large-scale advertising for the film."

Alexei Makarkin, the deputy director of the "Centre for Political Technologies", has called the "Matilda" a "nice costume film to entertain a lot of many viewers." "Therefore, a huge number of our elite representatives expressed calm attitude to the film," explained Alexei Makarkin.
