Ingushetia re-schedules Day of Knowledge for September 2 because of Eid al-Adha
In Ingushetia, solemn school assemblies will be held on September 2 due to the fact that the holiday of Eid al-Adha is celebrated on September 1. This was reported on Instagram by Yusup Kostoev, Minister for Education. In Karachay-Cherkessia and Dagestan, the date of September 1 is announced a day off in connection with the celebration of Eid al-Adha, but the Day of Knowledge is not postponed.
Rashid Temrezov, the leader of Karachay-Cherkessia, has signed a decree to announce the date of September 1, 2017, as a day off.
"This year, Eid al-Adha, one of the major and most honourable holidays for Muslims, takes place on the same date as the Day of Knowledge," Rashid Temrezov wrote on Instagram.
He has also added that solemn school assemblies dedicated to the Day of Knowledge are not postponed.
On September 1, in Kabardino-Balkaria, all schools will be open. This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by an official from the Pre-school and Secondary Education Department of the Kabardino-Balkarian Ministry for Education and Science.
The authorities of Dagestan also decided to declare the date of September 1 a day off. On August 25, the appropriate resolution was signed by Ramazan Aliev, the acting chair of the government, the website of the Dagestani government reported.
The Dagestani Ministry for Education has reported that regardless of the celebration of Eid al-Adha, schools will be open as usual.
In Adygea, the Day of Knowledge will not be postponed, reported Zaurbiy Chundyshko, the chair of the "Adyge Khase-Circassian Council".
