Chechen authorities announce three days off for Eid al-Adha
In connection with the celebration of the Eid al-Adha holiday, by the decree of the Chechen leader, the days of August 31, September 1 and 2 are announced to be the days off in the republic. This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by an official from the administration for the leader and the government of Chechnya.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in 2017, Muslims will celebrate the holiday of Eid al-Adha on September 1.
Meanwhile, it was decided not to re-schedule solemn school assemblies on September 1. This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by an official from the Chechen Ministry for Education and Science. "Activities to celebrate the Day of Knowledge and solemn school assemblies are planned for September 1," noted the official.
The Sacrifice Feast of Eid al-Adha is celebrated 70 days after the holiday of Eid al-Fitr and falls on the 10th day of the sacred month of Dhu al-Hijjah. The celebration takes place within three days and marks the end of the pilgrimage to Mecca.
It should be noted that in 2016, on the eve of the Eid al-Adha holiday, the authorities of Chechnya allocated more than 60,000 heads of livestock to poor people. Meanwhile, not all the people in need could receive animals for sacrifice because of the queues which occurred during the distribution of animals.
