Residents of Chechnya complain about rise in prices on eve of Eid al-Adha

Today, Muslims celebrate Eid al-Adha, one of the main Islamic holidays. Chechen authorities informed that the republic rendered material assistance to 770 families in need. Meanwhile, the residents of Chechnya report on the increased prices for sacrificial animals.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on the occasion of the Eid al-Adha holiday, the authorities of Chechnya declared the dates of August 31, September 1 and 2 to be the days off.

The Sacrifice Feast of Eid al-Adha is celebrated 70 days after the holiday of Eid al-Fitr and falls on the 10th day of the sacred month of Dhu al-Hijjah. The celebration takes place within three days and marks the end of the pilgrimage to Mecca.

Residents of Chechnya began celebrating the holiday of Eid al-Adha with a morning collective prayer in a mosque. After that, people visit graves of their relatives, and then they directly start to perform the rite of sacrifice, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

According to the administration of the Chechen leader and government, on the eve of the holiday, the authorities of the republic rendered material assistance to 770 families in need.

"The Foundation named after the first Chechen President Akhmat-Khadji Kadyrov allocated funds to 770 families for performance of a sacrifice on the holiday of Eid al-Adha," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by an official from the administration of the Chechen leader and government.

Meanwhile, the residents of the Chechen Republic have informed the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent about the increased prices for sacrificial animals.

"This year, the prices for sacrificial animals have increased. Earlier, it was possible to buy a small sheep for 5000-6000 roubles. And now the minimum price is 7000 roubles. If several persons purchase together a cow or a bull, it will cost 9000-10,000 roubles or even more," said Lukman, a resident of Chechnya.
