Tripwire wounds officer
An officer of the Russian Internal Affairs Ministry's interior troops triggered a tripwire-type mine installed by rebels and sustained a serious wound in Chechnya's Shelkovskaia district on 16 May. This is what RIA Novosti was told at the headquarters of the United Group of Forces in the North Caucasus. Interior troops were conducting search and reconnaissance activities in Chechnya. The explosion wounded the commander of the company, the agency's interlocutor says.
