"Matilda" to be shown in Southern Russia despite Ramzan Kadyrov's opinion
The premiere of the film "Matilda" is scheduled for October 26 and will not be cancelled. This is reported by the spokesman for the cinema network "Monitor", which cinemas are located in the Southern Federal District (SFD) and the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD).
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Ramzan Kadyrov requested to exclude Chechnya from a rental certificate for the screening of the film "Matilda" directed by Alexei Uchitel. The authorities of Dagestan joined the Ramzan Kadyrov's request. The Russian Ministry of Culture suggested that the regions should themselves decide on the ban on the film. On August 10, the Ministry issued the rental certificate for the screening of the film "Matilda" across Russia.
The film "Matilda" described a story about the fate of ballerina Matilda Kshesinskaya, with whom future Russian emperor Nicholas II was in love. Critics of the film believe that the image created in "Matilda" does not correspond to the image of Emperor Nicholas II canonized by the Russian Orthodox Church.
According to Andrei Popov, the press attaché of the cinema network "Monitor", the agency does not plan to refuse the screening of the feature film "Matilda" directed by Alexei Uchitel.
"The film's premiere is scheduled for October 26, and it is not cancelled," said Andrei Popov.
"If by late October the situation does not calm down, then we will enhance the security measures in the cinemas to ensure the spectators' safety," the "Interfax" quotes today Andrei Popov as saying.
Meanwhile, Andrei Popov has admitted that "there are threats coming from unidentified persons with demands not to show film 'Matilda'."
