Tbilisi: three activists stop hunger-striking

Three female activists of the "Alliance of Patriots of Georgia" have explained their decision to stop the hunger strike by physicians' recommendations. 14 people continue to participate in the protest action.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 17, seventeen members of the parliamentary opposition "Alliance of Patriots of Georgia" Party announced the start of the hunger strike. They demanded to carry out a constitutional reform, to hold direct dialogue with Abkhazia and South Ossetia, and to solve social problems.

Gogittsa Gogibiresvili, a participant of the protest action, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that during the hunger strike, her earlier problems with pressure got worsened. "I did not want to stop the hunger strike, but the doctors insisted on that," the woman said. Two other women on protest, including Nana Dyatkonidze, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that they also stopped their hunger strike at the physicians' request and showed the appropriate certificates. Thus, 14 people continue to participate in the hunger strike.
