ECtHR denies Amirov’s complaint against prison doctors

The European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) has found convincing the evidence provided by Russian authorities that Said Amirov, a former Mayor of Makhachkala, receives all the necessary medical care in the colony, where he serves his term.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 27, 2015, the court sentenced Amirov to life imprisonment for organizing murders, banditry and terrorism. The Supreme Court (SC) of Russia confirmed the verdict as lawful.

After the assassination attempt on him, committed on April 3, 1993, Said Amirov is now a wheelchair invalid. In total, Amirov has survived 15 murder attempts.

Today, the ECtHR has issued its decision to deny Amirov’s complaint about his improper medical treatment in custody, the press service of the Russian Ministry of Justice (MoJ) reports.

The ECtHR’s findings are based on conclusions of doctors from medical institutions of the Russian Federal Penitentiary Service (known as FSIN) and expert opinions of employees of other health care institutions.
