Over 500 Nagorno-Karabakh residents rally in memory of Airapetyan
Residents of the village of Vank, Martakert District, have held a mourning rally in memory of Levon Airapetyan and attended a memorial service at the Gandzasar Monastery.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Levon Airapetyan, a benefactor, died in a colony in Mordovia on October 18.
Villager of Vank, where Airapetyan was born, shared memories of how he helped them. They said that his death was their great tragedy.
Andrei Sargsyan, the head of the Vank community, has noted that "Airapetyan not only restored the village, but also helped all its residents."
"If someone fell ill, he helped to pay the treatment at hospital; if there was a wedding, he helped the families. On the initiative and for the funds of Levon Airapetyan the village built a school, the House of Arts, a kindergarten, an administrative building, a hospital, hotels, recreation areas, a police station and a woodworking factory," Mr Sargsyan said.
Lyudmila Asryan, a villager, has noted that Airapetyan was a highly respected person.
According to the village police, more than 500 people took part in the mourning events.
Earlier, on October 20, students held a funeral procession in memory of Airapetyan in Stepanakert. Also, over a thousand people visited the funeral service in Moscow.
