Number of complaints to Georgian CEC reaches 500
The Central Election Commission (CEC) of Georgia has got 500 complaints about violations committed during the elections of municipality heads and members of local self-government bodies, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 21, residents of Georgia elected heads of 64 cities and districts, as well as 2058 deputies of 64 Sacrebulos (city councils). According to the preliminary information released by the Central Election Commission (CEC), the ruling "Georgian Dream" Party was in the lead. The opposition did not recognize the results of the elections in Georgia. On the voting day, the CEC received 204 complaints.
"On October 24, the deadline expired to file complaints about violations committed during the voting day on October 21. At present, all 500 complaints are being processed by the regional election commissions," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Anna Mikeladze, the spokesperson for the CEC of Georgia.
The deadline for consideration by the regional commissions expires today, on October 26. After that, according to Anna Mikeladze, three working days remain to challenge the decision of the regional commissions in the first instance courts (city and regional courts).
