In Yerevan, about 500 students go on strike
Today, during a protest action, about 500 students from the Yerevan State University (YSU) have stated they will not attend lectures until the bill to cancel a postponement from the army is withdrawn from the Parliament.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 25, the Armenian Parliament considered the bill, according to which only university students who were going to serve as officers would receive a postponement from the army. On October 27, 89 out of 98 MPs voted in the first reading for the abolition of the academic postponement from the military service in Armenia.
Today, the students have gathered in front of the YSU building and stated that they will not attend lectures until the bill is withdrawn from the Parliament. They were chanting: "Strike!" and "Postponement will be," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.
The students have also started a march to the country's higher education institutions with an appeal to join the strike.
