Idigov tells about children in the venue of Tbilisi special operation

The information about those against whom the special operation was conducted on November 22 in Tbilisi has not been officially announced. Some sources claim that they were militants from Syria. According to Umar Idigov, the chairman of Tbilisi "Caucasus Integration Foundation", this is not true; and there were children in the blocked apartment.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the special operation in Gabriel Salos Street in the Isan District in Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia, began in the evening on November 21 and was over in the following evening. In the course thereof, a special troop's fighter perished; and three suspected terrorists were killed, and another one detained, the Georgian State Security Service (SSS) has reported. According to the republic's Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), four special troop's fighters were also wounded.

The special operation in Tbilisi was conducted against militants of the banned terrorist organization "Islamic State" (IS*), the newspaper "Kviris Palitra" reports.

"We've learned that there are three persons suspected of terrorism in the apartment; they're Chechen nationals. Presumably, they are IS fighters and got to Georgia illegally," Nino Burchuladze, an analyst of the above newspaper, was quoted by the "InterPressNews" Agency in the evening on November 22.

However, Umar Idigov, who has visited the place of the special operation, asserts that the men blocked in the apartment were not terrorists. According to his version, the family, against whom the special operation was conducted in Tbilisi, had come from Chechnya to Georgia for medical treatment.

"Early in the morning they contacted me. I'm a Chechen; and my friends asked to help them; we arrived at the place of the special operation; the Chechens said that there were two small children, one woman and two men in the apartment. They arrived from Chechnya a month ago and were receiving their treatment here," said Umar Idigov.

He has added that he had offered security service agents to take the children and the woman out of the blocked apartment. "We could negotiate, but they did not let us into the apartment," said Idigov, whose words were also cited on November 22 by the Georgian "RegInfo" Agency.

*"Islamic State" (IS, earlier, ISIL) is recognized as a terrorist organization and is banned in Russia by court's decision.

  • Compensation decrease for illegal prosecution violates rights of KBR resident

The court ruling, which awarded Madin Gubzhokov compensation of 30,000 roubles for unlawful criminal prosecution, is incomparable with the moral harm caused by the actions of Azamat Kyaov, a former law enforcer. The amount is ridiculous and should be appealed against, lawyers and human rights defenders have stated.
