Relatives report detention of three residents of Dagestan

Law enforcers have detained Sabir Akmurzaev, Alaudin Yakupov and Arsen Kacharbaev, residents of the village of Novo-Dmitrovka in Dagestan, after planting drugs and ammunition into their house during searches, their relatives assert.

On November 27, Sabir Akmurzaev's mother turned to the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial". She said that on November 16, law enforcers illegally detained her son, born in 1996.

In the opinion of one of Akmurzaev's relatives, Sabir "is on the police prophylactic registry only because he observes religious Islamic canons and wears a small beard."

Sabir's mother has also stated that "the search was conducted with numerous violations." After that, law enforcers "by using threats knocked out confession that Sabir had prepared a terror act against policemen."

In her opinion, "Sabir's guilt is only in the fact that he wore Muslim clothes when attending Friday namazes (prayers) in a local mosque."
