Former Makhachkala Mayor Amirov refused release from colony

The Sol-Iletsk District Court has dismissed the motion on releasing Said Amirov from the colony for health reasons.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Amirov's defence provided the court with a doctors' opinion about Said Amirov's health condition; doctors examined him and recommended to release him. Amirov is serving his sentence in the colony "Black Dolphin" in the Orenburg Region.

On August 27, 2015, the court sentenced Amirov to life imprisonment for organizing murders, banditry and terrorism. The decision of the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) on Amirov's complaint awarded in October 2017 equated his imprisonment to torture, Vladimir Postanyuk, one of Amirov's advocates, has stated.
