"EcoWatch" activists associate attack on Rudomakha with law enforcers
The people who attacked Andrei Rudomakha, the coordinator of the "Ecological Watch for Northern Caucasus" (EcoWatch) in Krasnodar, acted in an organized manner and had information about activists’ travels. They may have attitude to law enforcers, Mr Rudomakha himself and his associates believe.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in the evening on December 28, in Krasnodar, unidentified persons attacked Andrei Rudomakha and his companions. Andrei was hospitalized with a head trauma and fractured nose.
The attack was backed by influential persons, whose plans were broken by ecologists, the advocate Alexei Avanesyan, who is defending Andrei Rudomakha, has suggested. The latter is of the same opinion, associating the attack with his environmental activities.
He is convinced that the attackers had links with the power structures, while the customers were "high-ranking officials, who capture general-use specially protected areas for building their palaces there."
"The attackers had professional skills; they were dressed in sports clothes and in good physical shape. They could learn about our travels only if they had special means and access to databases. They knew where we lived and where we could go after inspections," Andrei told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
