Dagestani leader declares new priorities of republic
In Dagestan, the Russian General Prosecutor's Office (GPO) has revealed hundreds of corruption-related violations and dozens of concealed crimes, Ivan Sydoruk, Deputy Russia's General Public Prosecutor, has stated. After the liquidation of the armed underground, the war on corruption is a new priority for Dagestan, Vladimir Vasiliev, the acting head of the republic, has announced.
In Dagestan, corruption has pierced all the spheres of life, Mr Sydoruk has stated.
According to his story, in January, more than 350 violations of the anti-corruption legislation were revealed, including appointing relatives to various posts.
Ivan Sydoruk said that Dagestan had failed the resettlement programme from dilapidated and emergency housing: today, over 147,000 people live in houses with the expired service life.
The GPO's commission has also revealed 70 concealed crimes, including two murders.
According to Mr Vasiliev, in Dagestan, a large-scale fight against corruption was impossible in the face of a terrorist threat, but now the republic's authorities intend to concentrate on this fight.
