Muslimat Kurbanova released at courtroom
The Soviet District Court of Makhachkala has sentenced Muslimat Kurbanova, a resident of Dagestan, who voluntarily returned from Syria, to eight years of imprisonment in a penal colony with a delay in punishment until her child's 14th birthday.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Muslimat Kurbanova was arrested after her voluntary return from Syria. The woman was charged under Part 2 of Article 208 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (participation in an illegal armed formation (IAF)).
Muslimat Kurbanova, found guilty by the Court, was released from the courtroom immediately after the pronouncement of the verdict. The woman will serve her punishment in 13 years, since her child was born in Syria in 2017, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reported.
The decision to appeal against the verdict will made after consultations with family members of the sentenced woman, an advocate of Muslimat Kurbanova informed the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Zagidat Abakarova, arrested on her return from Syria together with Muslimat Kurbanova, had been earlier sentenced to eight years of imprisonment by the court with a delay in punishment for 13 years, until her youngest child's 14th birthday.
