Two police officers were killed in Karachay-Cherkessia, republican law enforcement agencies told RIA Novosti. "Unidentified persons fired automatic weapons at the Zhiguli car of a police unit of the City Division of Internal Affairs near house 1 "A" in Mir St in Karachayevsk at 2.50 last night," the Karachay-Cherkessia Internal Affairs Ministry said. According to the source, two police officers died of sustained wounds on the spot as a result of the attack. "The criminals took their Kalashnikov submachine gun with 30 cartridges and two Makarov handguns with 32 cartridges," said the interlocutor.
