Opposition demands report on Georgia's relations with Abkhazia and South Ossetia

Today, 12 Georgian opposition parties have asked Giorgi Kvirikashvili, the Prime Minister, to appear at the Parliament and explain his statement about the country's readiness for dialogue with the authorities of Russia, Abkhazia and South Ossetia.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 9, Giorgi Kvirikashvili declared his readiness for a dialogue with the authorities of Russia, Abkhazia and South Ossetia. The opposition then criticized the statement, treating it as an indication of authorities' "powerlessness".

Today, 12 leading opposition parties of Georgia have demanded from Giorgi Kvirikashvili to come to the Parliament and explain his statement concerning relations with Russia and the policy of de-occupation. They have stated this in their joint statement, available at the disposal of the "Caucasian Knot".

According to the statement, the above parties also demand the creation of a special format with the participation of the pro-Western oppositional parties, within which the state officials will report before or after each round of the Geneva International Debates, at open or closed sessions.

The statement also points to the significantly increased influence of Russian propaganda, which, in the opinion of the parties-signatories thereto, is aimed at legitimizing the recognition of the independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia.
