Two residents of Volgograd Region sentenced for financing terrorism
Today, Kazbek Bachaev and Ruslan Taimyskhanov have been found guilty of sending money to the militants of the "Islamic State" (IS) and the "Imarat Kavkaz", both recognized as terrorist organizations and banned in Russia by the court, at war in Syria and sentenced to nine and eight years of imprisonment, the Court reports.
Kazbek Bachaev and Ruslan Taimyskhanov were accused of raising money for the needs of the militants fighting in Syria. The defendants transferred money through non-cash payment systems to a bank card in Syria, the North-Caucasian District Military Court reports.
According to the prosecutors, in May 2014, while staying in the cities of Volgograd and Grozny, the defendants transferred more than 30,000 roubles to the militants in Syria. In April 2015, at the Shebalino farm yard in the Volgograd Region, Kazbek Bachaev and Ruslan Taimyskhanov raised almost 24,000 roubles. Later, Kazbek Bachaev transferred the money to a bank card used by Syrian militants. In January 2016, the defendants raised 140,000 roubles in the Chernomorovsky farm yard in the Volgograd Region. On January 18, 2016, Kazbek Bachaev arrived in Volgograd and transferred the money to the militants, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed at the press service of the Court.
