Astrakhan residents demand resignation of Kemerovo Region's Governor
More than 40 people came to the Astrakhan Hyde Park to hold a rally demanding resignation of Aman Tuleev, the Governor of the Kemerovo Region, after the tragedy that occurred in the regional capital. Other residents of Astrakhan laid flowers at the monument "Family" in memory of those who perished in the fire.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in Kemerovo, the fire at the "Winter Cherry" shopping and entertainment complex began in the afternoon on March 25, and it was not possible to extinguish it until the other day. The fire killed 64 people, including 13 children. According to eyewitnesses, the fire alarm in the building failed, and people had to get evacuated on their own.
The information about the action in the "Druzhba" (Friendship) Park was spread through social networks, Mikhail Doliev, the initiator of the rally and the head of the regional branch of the "Parnas Party", told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
At the commemoration action, political demands were also announced. "We held a solidarity action with the demand of Kemerovo residents: Tuleev, resign!" Doliev wrote on his Facebook page.
According to his story, the action lasted for about two hours – from 6:45 to 8:45 p.m. "We created an improvised memorial - a poster 'Corruption kills', surrounded with flowers and toys. There were several speakers," Mr Doliev told the "Caucasian Knot", adding that there were 48 participants of the rally.
Another Astrakhan action in memory of Kemerovo fire victims was held near the Swan Lake. Townspeople brought flowers and soft toys to the sculptural composition "Semya" (Family); and with the onset of darkness, they formed out the word "grieve" from burning candles, the "Point A" reports.
